Continuing his brilliant form, the Indian Captain Sunil Chhetri along with his two goals helped the nation to win the Intercontinental Cup 2018 by defeating Kenya with a score of 2-0. The match which was being held at the Mumbai Football Arena on Sunday was packed up with the fans as the tickets were sold out for this match. The Indian Football team seemed to be very aggressive since the inception of the first half and kept penetrating the Kenyan defense.

The magic of Sunil Chhetri

Sunil Chhetri has managed to hit a goal in all of the three games in this tournament, not to be forgotten – the hattrick against Chinese Taipei. In that match itself, the team won the match easily by 5-0. Also, the unstoppable Chhetri has already been in limelight for attending his 100th international match against Kenya in a league match at the Mumbai Football Arena. Earlier, he went on with a message on social media that went viral in which he pleaded fans for their support, Things have turned out to be miraculous since then. Many celebrities have come in the support of the Indian Football team, and neither had Sunil Chhetri disappointed them.

Another great milestone came for Sunil Chhetri as he has now become the second highest international goalscorer equalling Argentina’s Lionel Messi’s 64 goals. He is now just behind Christiano Ronaldo (81 goals) and so is the second highest most active international player. A proud moment for India !!!

Earlier, he went on with a message on social media that went viral in which he pleaded fans for their support, Things have turned out to be miraculous since then. Many celebrities have come in the support of the Indian Football team, and neither had Sunil Chhetri disappointed them. Even Virat Kohli had shared his views regarding Sunil Chhetri’s plea to the fans. As a result, all the three games have been jam-packed with the crowd. The tickets were sold out before the match. The crowd kept on cheering the team. For a moment it was tough to figure out that whether it was a cricket match or a football match.

But it all ended up very well, the team’s confidence level will be for sure in the seventh sky.  India now has to play the AFC Asian Cup to be held in January 2019.
